The Test
The purpose of the test is to show how a dog behaves in real situations. Passing traffic, child's buggys, other dogs, livestock, running children etc. The exact test is in outline at the moment and will hopefully be finalised with the participating councils and the Kennel Club.
A dog who passes will be given a certificate to show the standard it has reached and if any restrictions are part of that dogs behaviour, for example not being off lead near traffic.
A dog who fails will be offered training and help.
Neutering and microchipping will be part of the scheme with possible agreed exceptions for the neutering.
It is difficult to outline standards as some will always be subjective but no dog will be expected to be perfect.
More information as this develops.
