SafePets UK has introduced a series of training sessions, in store for Pet Shop staff.  We all know that staff are often the first person an owner asks for advice when they have a simple problem.

The "FETCH" project offers real training to staff in responsible pet outlets. Your shop could be the one locals choose over others because your advice is safe and reliable and you can really help them.

There are some very good staff out there, with some reasonable basic knowledge maybe you'd like to help your customers a bit more?

There are three levels of training, bronze, silver and gold to give everyone a chance to develop.  Debbie Connolly, the founder of SafePets UK is a well known animal behaviourist.  She is an Associate Member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers and is the behaviour consultant for Zep the Dep Rottweiler Rescue and Bengal Cat Rescue. Training will therefore mostly cover dogs and cats, some livestock where appropriate.

Covering such topics as:

  • Does food affect behaviour?
  • What's the best housetraining route?
  • Is a headcollar or harness better?
  • What's the best toy to stop chewing?
  • Can I stop spraying?
  • What's the difference in anti bark collars?

Lots more too.  Some tailoring can be built in to fit your best selling products or to promote poor selling ones.

Special prices for multiple staff in same store.  Ongoing support.  In store promotions and literature.

Pet shop staff can now apply to have an instore training day with SafePets UK.  Successful completion means a listing on this site as a preferred store, and a certificate to display.

This training is NOT a replacement for professional advice from a qualified behaviourist, but is a way of being sure your advice is appropriate.

We do not encourage staff to comment on any type of aggression related problems.

We do not allow any staff to make any sort of house calls, or charge for any advice.

Please Note:

We will run a complaints process to make sure the integrity of the certification is protected.

Customers may make a complaint and you would also have the right of reply.

Anyone breaking the code of conduct can have their certificate revoked.

Prices:

A day in store is £200 for the first staff member, £100 each for any others trained on the same day.

If you prefer a residential option with us, that costs £250 for a day of training an an overnight stay.  Again, £100 each for any other staff at the same time.

Staff passing the course will receive a certificate of their success.

You will be asked to carry promotional literature in store to help your customers understand what you are offering.

You need the permission of your store owner/manager if you intend to come on a course.

any enquiries, email us HERE

We want to help you to sell more products and do so safely and appropriately.

We hope to run in store promotional days for participating stores where Debbie Connolly and sometimes other specialists will come and talk to your customers.
