OLD DOG, NEW TRICKS
Helping Older Pets Into Homes

Homepage       How does it work      How can I become a listed Trainer?      How can I nominate an animal?     How can I become a sponsor?

Dogs like this can spend the end of their lives in kennels, overlooked for adoption.  Don't walk past again, stop and help!

Meet our first candidate

Welcome to Old Dog, New Tricks, a service aimed at helping the many older dogs and cats so often overlooked in rescue by giving them a free training session when adopted.

We thank our sponsors, to the right for their help and contributions and  we hope to help many pets into their new, permanent homes.
The idea is for anyone adopting an older pet to be given a free training and behaviour assessment from one of the many people listed on this site.  We want this to make choosing an older pet an easier option and for everyone to get the best start.

How Does it Work?

  • Rescues can nominate dogs or cats to join the scheme.  If accepted, their adverts can carry the logo and the animals will be listed here.
  • Trainers/Behaviourists can join for £20 a year and offer a session of at least a half hour free to the adopter.
  • The new owner gets a goody bag of vouchers courtesy of our sponsors.
