Participating Councils

Thank you to the many councils who have responded so positively to the project.  We start meetings very soon once the sponsorship packages are in place.

We would like to thank those councils already in discussions with us and for their sensible and open comments.

We would like to thank Alex Neil MSP for his support of the SafePets Project.  We met with him and can support his Control of Dogs (Scotland) Bill

This is Alex Neil's statement:

"I think the SafePets Project is a huge step in the right direction. It is certainly fully compatible with my proposed Control of Dogs (Scotland) Bill. I propose a range of control orders - 'doggy ASBOs' - that can be issued against irresponsible dog owners to force them to keep their dogs under proper control. The SafePets solution offers a way to keep owners out of court in the first instance, and proactively encourage them to behave responsibly. This would obviously be cheaper in the long run, and far less painful for all concerned. Far too many initiatives punish all dog owners for the actions of an irresponsible minority - SafePets does not fall into this trap, and is therefore a far more effective approach, which I am happy to give my full backing to."

YOUR council may be one of the ones not interested in helping you or your dog.  You could contact your councillor for your Ward and get them to ask their council if they are doing anything about protecting good dog ownership not just punishing dogs.
