Canine Assisted Development was created by SafePets UK, founded by Debbie Connolly of TV's "Dog Borstal" and "Britain's Most Embarrassing Pets".

A behaviourist with almost 30 years experience, she has treated many species including cats, dogs and pet livestock. A regular feature writer with many media appearances, she believes there is a special bond between animals and people.

Her work history also includes working with various groups including schoolchildren and disadvantaged youths and served as a Disability Services Adviser for several years as a Civil Servant. This gave her experience of working not just with people with physical disabilities, but also emotional and abuse problems too.

The team includes Naidre Werner and Sue Hessom, who bring experience of Teens in care, NVQ compliance and varied project Management skills.

There have been lots of questions and enquiries from various groups about whether we can create something for them. The answer is probably yes. There is now a version for people with physical disabilities to enable them to train and walk a dog including wheelchair users. We are keen to hear from groups helping our disabled service personnel.
